History of Tungsten
The name Tungsten is derived from the Swedish "tung sten," meaning heavy stone. The chemical symbol, W, is derived from Wolfram, the old name of the tungsten mineral wolframite.
Tungsten is mined as an ore. Most of the world's reserves are in China. China supplies 85% of the world's demand. Mostly used in: Hard Metals “WC”, Lighting, and Tungsten Heavy Alloys “WHA”.
Tungsten has a melting point of 3,410°C, and a density of 19.3 gms/cc.
